Aviation cocktail - Fifty Pounds gin

This unusual combination of gin, maraschino liqueur, crème de violette and lemon is not, it must be said, everybody’s choice of cocktail. Which gin you use obviously has an impact on any cocktail, but with those flavours, Fifty Pounds Gin works very well. As it happens, creme de violette fell so out of favour that the liqueur was discontinued in the 1960s. The liqueur, however, enjoyed a revival in the 21st century and the Aviation has regained its place on bar menus around the world.
