Gin cocktail Martini - Fifty Pounds gin

You can choose one of many origin tales for the Martini… Again it is a superbly adaptable drink, although Charles Maxwell our Master Distiller– obviously – prefers a gin Martini to the vodka variation and the merest hint of vermouth. “Vermouth, is a herbal infused wine,” explains Charles. “The botanicals don’t go well with it, which is why you don’t need much when you’re making a gin martini. With vodka, you need a slug of vermouth because otherwise, you’re just getting a neat spirit to drink which is a bit boring.”

The Recipe

Serving: 1

  • 60 ml Fifty Pounds Gin
  • 15 ml dry vermouth
  • Ice
  • Olives or a twist of lemon, for garnish

How to make or shake it

  1. We recommend you put a cocktail glass in the freezer to chill
  2. Combine the gin and vermouth in a shaker, fill it halfway with ice, and stir vigorously making sure it’s super chilled, about 20 seconds
  3. Strain into the chilled glass
  4. Garnish with olives or a twist of lemon. (If using a twist,  run the slice around the rim of the glass )
