Fifty Pounds - London Dry Gin crest

London is the global capital of gin. It is the birthplace of and the mecca of juniper-based spirits. London Dry Gin is a quality designation for pure gin that is made with natural botanicals and has no flavouring or colouring added after distillation, only water.

Fifty Pounds Gin London is distilled to perfection in small batches. Our recipe is secret, but we’re open about the botanicals used. The resulting gin is triple-filtered to achieve optimum smoothness.

Our Fifty Pounds Gin takes time – patience is a virtue, after all – but we feel the superior quality makes it all worthwhile. Happily, gin lovers and the world’s leading bartenders, mixologists and drinks writers agree.

From his book “Gin: The Manual”

As drinks writer Dave Broom puts it in his book “Gin: The Manual” (2015, Mitchell Beazley)…

“Like the bottle, Fifty Pounds is a clean and broad-shouldered gin with a light vegetal note and a nutty biscuity undertow, then citric elements (frozen peels/lemon sorbet) take over before very sage/pine-like juniper drifts in behind. It needs time to open for Parma violet and bright spiciness comes through. The Palate is fat and sweet with lots of sage and lavender as the juniper becomes more assertive.”

BATCH DISTILLED TO PERFECTION

Gin of the Year 2016 is not the only award we’ve taken. At the London International Spirit Challenge 2010 Fifty Pounds Gin was awarded the Super Premium medal, and picked up a Silver Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2016. If you’re wondering why we didn’t get silver in 2013, well, that’s because we took home a Double Gold…

Tasting Notes

Our Master Distiller Says

Fifty Pounds Gin is a smooth, classic, London Dry Gin.

Appearance

Fifty Pounds Gin is colourless in appearance “water white”, if you will – with spirit tails on the side of the glass.

Bouquet

On the nose, it’s classic in character, with a predominant bouquet of juniper and coriander, balanced by its citrus and spice notes.

Taste

On the palate Fifty Pounds Gin is smooth but complex, opening with juniper, but followed by the citrus constituents, and a hint of spice and earthiness. This gives way to a long, fresh finish, that’s clean, dry and with a touch of heat.

Fifty Pounds is ideal to be mixed with tonic or to star in a dry Martini – but can also be enjoyed neat.
