Gin, as a drink, was always designed to be mixed. At the time gin was invented – the end of the 17th, the beginning of the 18th century – the mixers were different to what’s available now and Mr. Schweppes wasn’t about, of course, but it was always drunk with local-made lemonade, or water, or a touch of bitters.

Generally, Gin is not designed to be a sipping drink, it’s a spirit designed to be mixed with other ingredients, be they long, soft, slices of lemon, or liqueurs and other spirits.

Drawn from gin’s historical background, the Fifty Pounds Gin profile works extremely well with both classic and modern cocktail recipes.
